Puppies born 24th April 2012
We had a litter of 3 girls & one boy.
Date of Kennel club Registration
28th May 2012
Dam & Sire from Heart checked stock parents 0 / 1.
Being a Cardiology nurse (12+ years) I regularly check my own dogs for any signs of heart murmurs, & to date they have all been clear.
Having had one dog in the distant past who tested "audibly" as a "1" later as a "4" & again when dopplered at the Royal Veterinary College (Potters Bar) ..he was actually only a "1".
Therefore audible testing, although good is subjective, & depends greatly on how quiet the environment & the dog are on a particular day.
As most dogs are tested at 12-18 months there is always time for change, after this & a clear score one day will not necessarily make for a clear score on another.
Avoid noisy dog show testing (dogs on edge) & testing in ANY noisy environment, testing site needs to be calm & quiet
My personal recommendation is to heart-check twice (generally 12 months apart) based on a young dog's growth & development, this only has to be seen when you look at human beings & look at how Aortic Stenosis (A.S). develops over time.
Pups are advertised through the Kennel Club Accredited breeder programme, (responsible breeders programme).
Also via our quickly "cobbled together" web-pages www.mirubyboxers.weebly.com (this site) which will have updated photo's.
We sell based on contract & having vetted your suitability as an owner of a family member who may live in excess of 12 years.
Due to the ban on tail docking we offer pups compliant with current legislation: with tails intact
All the puppies are fully pigmented. (Eyes)
Our pups have been wormed accordingly.
(we recommend panacur paste which is in a notched syringe for accurate & easy dosing)
This will be the first & we anticipate only litter from our current bitch.
We are aware of the strain a litter takes on a bitch & have always preferred that any bitch bred from only has a maximum of 2 litters
(The kennel club generally "advises" no more than 4 litters can be registered with them per bitch & a maximum of 2 if born by caesarean section).
Due to the fact that our dam (Millie) required a c-section on her first litter, this will be her first & last litter, ..a shame based on the sheer quality of the puppies produced.
We simply do not like the idea of more than 2 litters per dam ever, they are pets & family members not breeding machines.
Our pups are brought up & socialised with other dogs.
Pups are exposed to radio sounds (especially radio 4 which makes for good company).
As we use Hepa filtration in various rooms they appear quite used to loud noise at an early age (though vacuum cleaners should be brought into use with prior planning with several people present).
TIP
Dogs are carnivores & as such not designed for large quantities of vegetable matter (or boring complete biscuit) as such we raise dogs on a combination of wet & dry foods, to our minds no biscuit claiming to be "complete" fulfills a proper dietary requirement & is simply boring for a dog based on repetition.
We recommend raised feeder (bowl holders) for any dog, as it aids better digestion & helps deter gastric problems.
Also recommended, is a rest day (for the dog's gut) ..such as a light scrambled egg & rice meal once per week as well as good amounts of minced garlic in with a cooked dish (upon maturity & after checking for possible allergy) which serves as both a gentle natural wormer, but also increases your dogs keen sense of taste & appetite, & is very good at freshening dogs breath!
Remaining pups now eating small amounts of minced garlic with their food.
Both Sire & Dam's pedigrees are available for inspection.
Both sire & dam have excellent hips ..often laying on tummies legs extended behind them "full stretch" or what we affectionately call "doing a froggy"
(Boxers generally are not a breed to overly worry about hips, therefore as a breed do not require a hip score, which to do properly would result in a dog being knocked out under anaesthetic, ..always a risk to the dog).
Our concern regarding any breed is over exercise from an early age, you wouldn't expect your 5yr old to run a half marathon, but folk commonly over exercise young dogs, we see this daily in animals we have known since young developing hip / movement problems due to too much "pavement pounding" ..a boxer is still developing both mentally & physically at 18 months eg, "brisket" lowering, chest filling out, & therefore, logically bones are still growing & developing.
TIP
Therefore we recommend that lead (& general) training is done in very short bursts with treats involved to keep your dog's mind focussed, with our own dogs they are walked only a short distance to the end of the street & back whilst young (pup -14 months)
other exercise should involve close play & obedience, ideally a dog you can trust to follow you (they'll be happier) as you go about your day in the front / rear garden, to trust your dog to be allowed out to welcome you home rather than paw & whine at the door & then follow your instruction for them to return inside via the command, "House"
We are here to assist you with any enquiry before, during & after purchase of our boxer pups.
Both Sire (dog) & Dam (bitch) may be seen, petted & played with, ..in fact we positively encourage it.
For contact details please use the form provided (contact page), Tweet us, or ring the mobile number (located on this header page).
We look forward to speaking to you, please feel free to ask questions, even if it's just to glean more knowledge of the breed, we are happy to share our experience in order that you avoid the pitfalls of both poorly bred AND too closely bred animals which may cause heartache down the line.
